..His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.
~from A Visit from St. Nicholas
by Clement C. Moore
When I think of Santa, he's the jolly old elf decribed in this beloved poem. My sister and I, when we were children, had the entire poem memorized and would try to outdo each other by reciting it with as few errors as possible. When I saw this Santa paper in the Home for Christmas designer series paper stack, I knew it was going to be my favorite of the season. In fact, I loved it so much, I was hesitant to cut it and use it!
I wanted to really show case these nostalgic Santas so I keptmy stamping to a minimum. The Jolly sentiment from Oh What Fun stamp set was just perfect. And the Brick Wall textured embossing folder really made that Real Red cardstock gives just hint of the chimney background.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
