Do you craft with Post-It Notes handy? If not, you're going to want to start. Post it's come in super handy when "Masking". What's masking? Notice how my rooster from the Home To Roost Stamp Set looks like he's in front of the wheat? If I just stamped the wheat, then the rooster, you'd have wheat showing through him and that would be weird! Instead, try the masking technique.
When masking, you begin in reverse. Here's how I did it:

What do you get when you add TWO background stamps to a card? You get WOW textures and fun galore!
Today, I used two of the big background stamps: Burlap and Buffalo Check. I've used them both on their own, but WOW when you use them together, they really pop! I stamped the Burlap stamp in Sahara Sand on Sahara Sand Cardstock to give it a very subtle textured feel. And I wanted a sharp contrast for the Buffalo Check so I chose Night of Navy on Whisper White.
Today's card also uses the Home to Roost Stamp Set, which is FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration. Have you gotten yours yet? Tomorrow, I'm going to show you an easy way to get your own Home to Roost Stamp Set.

CASE-ing - or Copy and Share Everything - is a fun and safe way to try new techniques or layouts. Today's CASE-ing Tuesday card is no exception and in fact, although it looks simple, it's actually a challenge to get the right colors, patterns, and textures with these smaller layers. Let's just put it this way; this is NOT the card I originally had in my head!
This is actually the first time I used the Home to Roost Stamp Set. This is one of the Sale-a-Bration sets which is free with a $50 purchase and it just so happens to be my Product of the Week. I can't wait to show you what else I've made with it!
Want to play along with the CASE-ing Tuesday group?
Use the sketch to plan out your card. You can change a lot, a little, or make the card just as it is in the catalog. Then post it to the Facebook thread. We can’t wait to see your cards. You can use the following hashtag if you post your card elsewhere on Facebook #CASEingtuesday184.
Wow! Where did this weekend go? It started with a flurry of crafting, with my Crafty Saturday Facebook Live and then moved right into club. Lad came home right after that and we spent the rest of the day test driving and buying a truck. Sunday included a quick trip to Costco, lunch with my parents, and getting him ready to go back to the mountains. Then, I met good friends for dinner and an amazing performance by the NC symphony. I need a weekend to recover from my weekend!
This week's Crafty Saturday Facebook live event was a lot of fun. And you know what I realized afterwards? There was no stamping in it at all! I haven't done a no stamping project in a long time an it was kind of fun. This project was a hit with my club on Saturday, too. The hardest part was deciding if they should give it away or keep it for themselves.
Sign up's for February's card club will start on February 1. This is a monthly subscription that you can cancel at ANYTIME. After 6 months, you may choose $25.00 of any product for FREE, including hostess sets! I'll announce what the new stamp set/bundle is soon and you can add it to your club kit if you don't already have it in your collection.

I'm closing this week's Meant to Be product of the week showcase with a Sweet & Simple Card. Clean lines, clean stamping, and just one color. That's my tip this week. Instead of trying to use all the colors in a palette (or pack of designer series paper), pick 1 color and add a neutral. It's so easy to overwhelm with too much color. The 1 color and a neutral is pleasing to the eye and is just plain classy.
I hope you enjoy your weekend. Come craft with me tomorrow morning at 9 am on my LIVE Crafty Saturday. We're going to have some fun making a Valentine Sampler! You won't want to miss it!
