Life...it's what we make it. Dwell on the negative or rejoice, your choice reflects your outlook on life and brings others with that same outlook, into your intimate circle. Me, I choose to surround myself in love and joy, just like this pretty little dancer from the Beautiful You Stamp Set (available Jan. 4), kicking up her heels in celebration of life.
This card features my favorite blue-green colors - Mint Macaron and Island Indigo - from the Blossoms and Bliss Designer Series Paper series. And her clothes and hat are colored with Stampin' Up!'s new Watercolor Pencils, softened with a Blender Pen. Some Mint Macaron Sheer Linen Ribbon ties it all together.
The new Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs begin Jan 4, but the Year End Closeouts are still available through Jan 3. Don't miss your last chance to get your favorites from the Holiday catalog while they're on sale, and before they're gone for good - or become overpriced by resellers! The Hubs and I took down the tree and Christmas decorations last night. To me, an empty Christmas tree is one of the saddest, lonliest sights after the holidays. And all the lights that burned so bright with anticipation, only seem dim and dusty once Christmas is over. So, we sepnt a few hours packing everything away and dusing and vacuuming. My house is back to normal, but it feels rather empty without the tree.
I needed something to cheer me up, so after the Hubs went to bed, I went up to my stamp room and unloaded 3 boxes of Stampin' Up! goodies. My Bingo night is this Friday and I have 12 ladies coming to play! It's time to put the last minute touches on all the projects and fun I've been planning.
Then, I made a quick card using the new Hey, Chick Stamp Set. Stampin' Up! has really outdone themselves with the Sale-a-bration products they're offering this year. What's Sale-a-bration? Only the best time of the Stampin' Up! year! It's the best way to fight of the winder doldrums.

Last night, I pulled out my brand new Peekaboo Peach Ombre Stampin' Pad (available January 4th! in the Occasions Catalog!). I hadn't used an ombre pad before, so I went out to YouTube and found this simple video Carrie did on how to use the ombre pads without getting it all 'muddy'.
Getting the ombre look isn't hard. You can get five shade gradations that fade from dark to light (or light to dark). All you need a Stampin' Up Ombre Stampin Pad, like the Emerald Envy one shown below.
Remember, both the Emerald Envy and Black Ombre Stampin' Pads are on sale for only $7.20, but only until January 3rd. Get yours before they retire! To see the all Year End Closeouts, please visit my online store.
**All orders between now and January 31, 2017 receive a 15% discount. You must contact me prior to placing your order to qualify for this discount.
Ahhh...the tastes of the season. Cookies and fudge; eggnog and wassail; cranberries and nut roll. But, let's not forget about...TACOS! Yes, tacos feature prominently in our Christmas Eve feast. It all stems back to when I was a little girl.
In the German tradition, family presents are opened on Christmas Eve. And growing up on Southern California, homemade tacos were high everyone's favorites list. I'd like to think Gramma made them for their fast, no fuss, but making tacos was a lot harder 'back in the day'. Tortillas were fried by hand, not prepackaged for convenience. (And if they came packaged then, it would have been a travesty to buy them!) My grandmother, mom, and aunt would fry no less than 4 dozen taco shells since my dad was known to eat 12-15 tacos all by himself (and that was exercising restraint!. And what's a taco feast without homemade chile rellanos? Hand battered and friend, full of oozy gooey Monteray Jack cheese - my mouth is watering right now.
Then came the clean up. All that chopping, grating, and frying made quite a mess. It was all my sister and I could do as we waited in wild anticipation for the presents under the tree. Of course, it wouldn't have been Christmas Eve if my mom and gramma weren't hurrying to finish knitting our slippers or sewing new dresses.
The ghosts and memories of Christmas...it's why we keep traditions alive. It's the love found in those memories that hold us together. What are your special holiday traditions?
The card today features the Tasty Trucks stamp set which is available for FREE in the new Sale-a-bration catalog, starting January 4th. I thought it paired wonderfully with the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper. I hand water colored the the truck and background using Stampin' Up's new Watercolor Pencils. And The Lad told me, "Hey, that's really good", which as you know, is the highest compliment coming from him.

Two years ago, I hosted my very first Stampin' Up! class. I'd fallen in love with some pretty Thanksgiving cards at a craft fair, and wanted to make them myself. After scheduling a time with the demonstrator I'd met, I invited a few friends over for a fun night of crafting. It was so much fun! And, never having sent Thanksgiving cards, I was pretty excited to send them and share with my friends and family that couldn't join me for the holiday.
That evening, the demonstrator started talking about the Starter Kit and joining Stampin' Up!. Curious, I did a little exploring, but decided not to purchase it right then. Pouring through the catalog, my wish list quickly grew. I started thinking more about the benefits of joining Stampin' Up! as a hobbyist. I mentioned it to the Hubs and he told me I should treat myself and buy it for me for Christmas. Again, I held off. But the more I thought about it, the more I really wanted it. So, on December 29th, I took the plunge and signed up.
NOW...that was a mistake but only because Sale-a-Bration started the very next week! Sale-a-Bration is the BEST time to purchase the starter kit, or what I like to call, the Ultimate Bundle! Here's why:
