My sister and her two children are here! They arrived from San Diego yesterday around dinner time and we spent a fun evening together, catching up, having dinner, and just being together. It was great to be Auntie Chelle again. I even got to read them bed time stories, tucked in on the floor between the sleeping bags!
By the time I got home, it was 10:30 and I was exhausted. But then I realized I didn't have a new card made for you. As I climbed the stairs towards my studio, I kept telling myself "You can pull an old one out of your box, no one will know." But I would know...and after a busy day at work and then hustling to get to the airport on time, I needed a little creative time to myself.
My Stamping Bee Team's weekly sketch challenge expired at midnight and I hadn't entered my card yet. Would I make it? I grabbed some paper, stamps, ink, and got to work. Keeping a simple two-color pallette kept it simple, and the new Marbled background stamp quickly added texture and depth to the background. I used color only on brushes and tools, creating a great focal point to the finished card. The sentiment found in the Crafting Forever stamp set fit perfectly as I quickly got to work. Even with the hand painting of the tools, this card took less than 30 minutes! And in those 30 minutes, I relaxed, cleared my mind, and was able to go to bed with a light heart and not worry about not finishing what I needed to do for the day.
Do something creative every day...you'll be glad you did!

There are two ways to see what's retiring.

This past Thanksgiving weekend marked our 10 year wedding anniversary. Falling over the big holiday weekend means our anniversary was a very low key day. I spent the day in my studio while the Hubs was busy building new built-ins for our mudroom. Our son, the Lad, was home from university, but had to work all day. No big plans had been made, so we ended up doing a bit of Christmas shopping that evening and going to a pub for dinner with my parents. In retrospect, it was a very typical "Day in the Life" - low key, quiet, calm, and surrounded by family.
I knew the card I made to mark the day had to be special, and I thought it about it for a long time. I was at my wits' end, when I pulled the All Year Long Project Life Card Kit off the shelves. The colors were a perfect match for my favorite paper stack, Serene Scenery. And, the sentiments in the kit were exactly what I'd been trying to say.
I used the Layering Ovals, Circles, and Stitched Shapes Framelit dies to cut the preprinted cards down to size. Then, I found my Occasions pre-order box, and started adding the wooden Sending Love embellishments , which I colored by placing them directly onto my Early Espresso ink pad. The collage was really strating to take shape. Now...for the inside...
The side pannels came together pretty easily - they were more cards from the Project Life Kit! But what to do in the middle. Again, I looked through my pre-order and the fell in love with the little 'love note' and envelope that are found in the new Sealed with Love bundle. The little note card, envelope, and even envelope liner are all die cut and the border on the note as well as the sentiment are on the stamp set. I also used the stamps and accessories found in the All Year Long Project Life Accessory Kit.
I love the way this came together. And even better, my hubs and son liked it, too. In fact, the Lad told me I need to make more cards just like this! It was really a lot of fun, and I loved the way the Project Life cards made it look professional and easy - all the hard work was done for me.
I think it's time to start planning my next one, don't you?
Saturday was my birthday! I got to spend it doing what I love - stamping and crafting with Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world.
Saturday, at the World Card Making Day 2016 (#WCMD2016) there was a large card swap. Demonstrators from all over brought 50 cards each to swap with each other. Such talent! I made thank you cards in classic Night of Navy and Whisper White.
And, as a special birthday celebration thank you to all my customers, any order over $50 placed between 11/7 and 11/14 will receive a free pack of White Perfect Accents from me! (Orders must use hostess code W9PDV6PZ) These are perfect for adding just a little something extra to all your projects. They're flat too, so they won't add to your shipping costs. ( 75 total accents - 25 each of 3 sizes: 3/16", 1/4", 5/16"). Leave them white or add color with Sharpie markers!
Look what came in the mail yesterday! I received these two gorgeous handmade cards plus two spools of ribbon from my friend and mentor, Selene Kempton. This was my special thank you gift for being in her $1000 club for the last two months. It was such a happy surprise to receive this special recognition in the mail, I had to rush in and show my husband!
I wonder what next month has in store?!
