All week I've been showcasing butterflies, or more specifically, theBeauty Abounds Stamp Set. While this is part of the Beauty Abounds Bundle, I chose to focus on just the stamp set. I think the dies are pretty, but the background stamps in the stamp set are the real star of the show for me.
When I first started stamping, I didn't know what to do with those background stamps. Looking back, my designs seemed a little flat because they lacked the depth and texture that backgrounds stamps can give. So the next time you open a stamp set and wonder, "What am I going to do with that piece?", try using it as part of the background and see what happens.
Last night, on Valentine's day, I held my first every a very fun non-Valentine's themed Kit Night. It was so much fun. Everyone brought a kit to work on, or one of my leftover classes to work on. It was great fun. We made banana splits, drank sparkling rosé wine, and everyone who attended received a red long-stemmed rose from me. It was so much fun. I can't wait to do it again!

Happy Valentine's Day! Today, I'm celebrating philia, or the love between friends. I have some very special friends in my life who've been there for me in times of happiness and sorrow and who've held me up when I wasn't able to see my way out of the darkness.
Surprisingly, I wouldn't have met any of these friends if it hadn't been for our mutual passion for crafting and making the world a more loving and beautiful place. You see, these amazing wonderful women were strangers to me beforeStampin' Up! And now, each and everyone of them holds a very special place in my heart.
As I sit here, counting my blessings on this Valentine's morning, I realize just how thankful I am to Stampin' Up! for bringing me these friends when I needed them most. How sad it would have been to go through life not knowing these amazing, strong, compassionate, wild women. And how exceedingly grateful I am for each and every one of them!
As the stamp says...A friend is someone who chooses you...out of a whole world of people.
A quick reminder...

Do you ever feel like you get stuck in a rut? You've used the same card design for quite some time and you're just tired of it? Or maybe you'd like to try something new, but don't know where to start? Maybe it's time to search for some new sketches.
This week, there is a new sketch challenge on our team page. Looking at this, you know it's not my style, but I played along to stretch my own creativity. I did add more layers behind the initial ones listed there because I like to frame things and make them pop off the page. And, I was able to incorporate my product of the week, Life is Grand Stamp Set, too! All in all, it didn't turn out too badly.
So next time you're stuck, search out some new sketches. You can always come back to my blog and look through my daily tutorials. Or check out the #CaseingTuesday Facebook page for ideas. Or go to Pinterest and search for "Card Sketches". Then, feel free to post a picture over on my Facebook page so I can what you create. I'm sure it will be amazing!
I asked and you responded!

Wow! Where did this weekend go? It started with a flurry of crafting, with my Crafty Saturday Facebook Live and then moved right into club. Lad came home right after that and we spent the rest of the day test driving and buying a truck. Sunday included a quick trip to Costco, lunch with my parents, and getting him ready to go back to the mountains. Then, I met good friends for dinner and an amazing performance by the NC symphony. I need a weekend to recover from my weekend!
This week's Crafty Saturday Facebook live event was a lot of fun. And you know what I realized afterwards? There was no stamping in it at all! I haven't done a no stamping project in a long time an it was kind of fun. This project was a hit with my club on Saturday, too. The hardest part was deciding if they should give it away or keep it for themselves.

Stampin' Up! Demonstrator
Welcome to #CaseingTuesday182! Today's card is very special because it's a birthday card for my nephew, who is turning 6 years old this week. I spent 9 glorious days with him and his sister this Christmas and I really wish I was there to celebrate his birthday with him.
I had to scour my shelves for just the write stamp set for him. I originally thought I'd use the Occasions Amazing Life Stamp Set with the cute little Birthday Cake, along with the adorable Gummy Bear paper from the How Sweet It Is Designer Series Paper stack. But that didn't feel right t me. He's still at that stage where cute and adorable touch his heart, so I grabbed my Hedgehugs Stamp Set from the annual catalog and that worked perfectly!
Want to play along with the CASE-ing Tuesday group?
Use the sketch to plan out your card. You can change a lot, a little, or make the card just as it is in the catalog. Then post it to the Facebook thread. We can’t wait to see your cards. You can use the following hashtag if you post your card elsewhere on Facebook #CASEingtuesday182.
