I feel so behind! It's craft fair season and I have't done a single one yet this year. Going to OnStage earlier in the month, and then flying straight to Boston for a week really put my craft fair plan into a tail spin. I do have one this Friday at North Chatham Elementary School from 6-9 pm. It's a local school and I get to be set up right next to my best friend who sells Usborne Books, so there should be plenty of food traffic. I've never done this fair, and I'm really looking forward to it. I hope, you'll stop by and support the North Chatham Elementary PTA Holiday Market.
To get ready for the market, I've been busy making some handmade gifts that could be used for stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, or just a little something to brighten someone's day. These desk calendars don't take up a lot of room, and the sentiment says it all: When I count my blessings, you are on the top of my list. I'm really happy I could use the Count My Blessings Stamp Set - it's so much more than just for Thanksgiving or fall! I lined the acrylic easel with a 6" x 4" piece of Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper and a strip of Gold Glimmer Paper, just to add a little sparkle. But wait...I'm not done! What's a present without beautiful packaging? I used a 6" x 17" Gusseted Cellophane Bag and some new Sweet Soiree Ready Shreddie, which I'd received in my 2018 Occasions preorder. Shhhhhhh...Ready Shreddie isn't available until January 1, but I couldn't resist using it to dress up my packaging. Isn't it festive? I finished it all up with a bow in matching Finely Woven Ribbon. What a perfect gift for someone special!

I stepped outside this morning and found a hard frost. That drives the dogs wild because their yard doesn't smell or look the same. Poor little Storm just looks at me, as if to say, "Why are you torturing me like this? Don't you know that grass is cold?"
Black Friday...you either love it or hate it. Me, I could care less since the best way to shop is online in my jammies. BUT, the Hubs loves it. We'll be married 11 years tomorrow and he attacks Black Friday like a strategic planner. He loves getting up early (as in 1-2 am) hitting the shops, bringing a load home, and heading out for more. I've always had a hot breakfast ready for him when he made his final return. In a way, it's rather like our own version of Santa and Mrs. Claus. (As I sit here, I'm even wearing my fuzzy red robe!)
This year, however, there is no Black Friday shopping frenzy. He started a new job at the Post Office this month, and he's working 14-hour days, 7 day a week. And the bulk of the packages and Christmas cards hasn't even hit yet! He went to bed last night a little dazed, muttering something about not being able to do any shopping today.
There's another 'first' in our home this year. It will be our first year that the Lad won't have a Christmas break. With his full time job in Charlotte, we're not sure what, if any, time he'll get off. So, my house will be empty and preparations for the holidays just don't feel the same. His Lady is going home for two weeks after finals, too, so he'll really be all alone as we get closer to Christmas. I can see I'll be making a few trips to Charlotte in December, just so we can be together.
Wishing you a very joyful start to your holiday season!
Just 1 day remains to register for the Final Christmas Card Club of 2017!

When your heart doesn't come home for the holiday, you travel to where your heart is.
This year, Thanksgiving isn't a frenzy of cooking and baking. The Lad has his first adult job and had to work Wednesday, and then again early Thursday morning. while we only live two hours apart, a four hour round trip just wasn't going to work out. So, what's a Momma to do? You gather the the rest of the family and go to him! So, instead of fighting the lines at the grocery and spending hours in the kitchen, we're in Charlotte and going out for Italian.
We'd all planned on coming down first thing Thanksgiving morning, but then, I got a text yesterday afternoon, "Do you want to come tonight? I'm not doing anything tonight." Of course I do! I threw some clothes in the car and hopped in the car to spend an evening with my son. We went out for Pad Thai and then just hung out out my hotel, visiting and looking at the lights of the shopping center below.
Family...whether you are gathered around grandma's table, bbq'ing, eating tamales, or eating lasagna. today is about being with those you love and counting your blessings.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
