Yesterday, I was working on a custom order of thank you cards using the Cool Treats Stamp Set for our local State Farm agent, Sara Donaldson. It never even occurred to me that I was working on this on National Ice Cream Day!
I tried a new (to me) watercoloring technique that gives it a softer look. I'd seen this on technique on German demonstrator, Sylwia Schreck's blog, and I just loved it! There are 10 steps to each popsicle, but the effect turned out so well it was worth the extra time!
This card was my prototype. I hadn't yet figured out which colors to use, and I accidently picked up Wild Wasabi instead of Pear Pizzazz for the lime popsicle. so it is a bit darker than I would have liked. And I added some additional fun by adding the same colors to the embossed background piece with my blender pens.
I can't wait to try this technique out again. I'd really like to master it as it will make a great addition to my crafting portfolio.
*I'll be doing a video shortly with this watercolor technique.

When Stampin' Up! announced our new pocket card collections were called Memories and More, I couldn't believe it! I mean, how cool is it that it's so close to my Making Memories with Michelle business name!?! And then, when they revealed that they coordinate with our designer series papers now, well, I was sold! These cards are just perfect for card making, photo organizing, and even scrap booking!
I've had a lot of fun playing and creating with the Color Theory andPetal Garden Memories and More packs. So much so, that I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them making a grand appearance at one of my big upcoming events. (Can you guess which one???)
If you haven't tried crafting with pocket cards, you really should give it a try. You'll be amazed at how quickly and easily your projects come together. In fact, I designed and made 12 cards last Saturday night while I was watching TV with the Hubs. And with 72 double-sided cards, there's plenty more opportunities for designing more.
Today's Tutorial is so simple, I'm just going to give you measurements. Everything but the Calypso Coral Card Stock base comes in the Petal Garden Memories & More card pack. And there's no stamping at all!

One of the highlights at our team inspiration night every month, is our Stamping Bee team swap. Open to all who wish to participate, Stamping Bee team members prepare a card based an the theme of the month and make enough copies to share with the rest of the team. Not only do we get to see everyone's designs and interpretations on a theme, but we get to watch each other grow as artists and designers. It's a fun and safe place to share and learn.
This month's challenge was to use Stampin' Up!'s embossing folders. Fellow Stamping Bee team mate Pam Riley created this pretty butterfly card using the Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and Watercolor Wings stamp set. I really like that it showcases the simplicity and beauty of a single layer card. And did you notice the antennae on the butterfly? It's two tiny pieces of burlap that she trimmed from the 5/8" Burlap Ribbon!

How cute is this??? Let's face it. we all need a little encouragement from time to time. See someone having a bad day and hand them this card, and just like that, you've brightened their day.
The Lemon Zest Bundle is perfect for quick stamping, too, since it comes with a punch to quickly and easily punch out the lemon and the leaves. No fussy cutting with snips, and no need to get out the Big Shot. It's as quick as stamp, punch, and stick (to the card).
And did you notice the new Pick a Pattern Washi Tape along the right margin? I'm really excited that the new washi tape is color coordinated to match more than single sets of designer series paper this year. The Pick a Pattern Washi Tape comes in 5 rolls, with widths varying from 1/8" to 1". Washi adds just a little extra zing to a card, without adding to the bulk, making it perfect for mailing!
This design was CASE'd right out of Stampin' Success, Stampin' Up!'s quarterly magazine for demonstrators, whether you're a 'happy shopper' who loves getting a great discount on all purchases, or a business minded demonstrator. I really look forward to getting my issue every quarter since it's full of tips, techniques, and tutorials; it's just one more reason I love being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

Every quarter, I have a special day set aside to celebrate the success of my team members who promoted or grew their own teams during the previous quarter. As a special treat, they got to spend the whole day crafting in my studio with me.
I love spoiling my team! There was a complete card class using the Eastern Palace bundle, compliments of friend, Selene Kempton. There was also some additional goodies from the new catalog preorder, and a handmade journal.
We began our stamping day making cards from the new Soft Sayings kit. I can't wait to show you how beautiful these cards are in person! The kit is all inclusive, too, so that means you get ink, stamps, embellishments, pre cut card bases, and even water colored envelopes. The whole kit makes 20 beautiful cards. We just kept oohing and ahhing over each one as we finished it.
Then we took a break for lunch at the Breakaway Cafe . It was nice to sit, visit, and get to know each other a little better. The rest of the afternoon was spent learning some water coloring techniques that I had taught last year, and putting together the card class. It really was a fun day and the time just flew by.
Crafting is so much more fun with a friend! Would you like to come craft with us? Is your wish list over $125? Then consider joining my Stamping Bee Team! We meet on the 2nd Sunday of the month to inspire, delight, and share. Plus, you could earn a fun day crafting with me, too! Contact me today for more information.
