Last weekend I was honored to be a guest teacher at my friend, Selene Kempton's, retreat up in Massachusetts. It's always fun going up there and sharing my passion for paper crafting. This is the third time I've done this, and it's wonderful to reconnect with friends I've made, and make new ones along the way.
I loved having a Christmas in August theme, too! It was so much fun combining the Stylish Christmas Stamp Set and Under the Mistletoe Designer Series paper for a 12-card Stamp-a-Stack. I was thankful I'd chosen Sweet & Simple designs, since the electricity went out during my 2nd class! Thank goodness for resourcefulness and iPhones. With a few strategically placed flashlights, we were back stamping, albeit in the dark.
I came home with THREE remaining packets. Each packet includes:
Base: Real Red, 11" x 4 1/4", scored at 5 1/2"
Layer 1: Basic Black, 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"
Layer 2: Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper, 5" x 3 3/4"
Layer 3: Vellum, 5" x 3 3/4"
Layer 4: Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper, Starburst Punch
Layer 5: Whisper White 2" Circle Punch

This past summer, my 9-year old niece was visiting from San Diego, and it just so happened that she was here during one of my Kit Nights. Both she and my sister were excited to come, but my 4-year old nephew was having no part of sitting still and while we were all crafting. So, he and Mommie went to one of the parks in the neighborhood, and my niece and I had a wonderful aunty-&-me craft night working on the Be Merry Kit together.
When I received this kit, I had no idea what a huge hit the rosettes would be this holiday season. They are super trendy right now and this kit has taken all of the guess work out of making them; all of the scoring and folding has already been done for you! The kit includes:
The Be Merry Kit is being discontinued and is available only until January 2nd, or while supplies last. You can order yours here today.

Yesterday, I was working on a custom order of thank you cards using the Cool Treats Stamp Set for our local State Farm agent, Sara Donaldson. It never even occurred to me that I was working on this on National Ice Cream Day!
I tried a new (to me) watercoloring technique that gives it a softer look. I'd seen this on technique on German demonstrator, Sylwia Schreck's blog, and I just loved it! There are 10 steps to each popsicle, but the effect turned out so well it was worth the extra time!
This card was my prototype. I hadn't yet figured out which colors to use, and I accidently picked up Wild Wasabi instead of Pear Pizzazz for the lime popsicle. so it is a bit darker than I would have liked. And I added some additional fun by adding the same colors to the embossed background piece with my blender pens.
I can't wait to try this technique out again. I'd really like to master it as it will make a great addition to my crafting portfolio.
*I'll be doing a video shortly with this watercolor technique.
