I'm in the last few days of prepping for myStamping at the Beach weekend retreat which starts next Friday. I also have a very busy weekend this weekend, which doesn't leave me with a lot of time. Tomorrow, we have tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera. We got the tickets for Christmas from my parents and I've really been looking forward to it. This weekend is also 2nd Sunday. I have my Sweet & Simple Class in my studio at 2 pm, and a Stamping Bee Team Meeting. It's going to be a BIG meeting, too! We have 12 people coming with 10 of us swapping!
So, with 4 retreat classes, a card class on Sunday , AND a Stamping Bee Team Meeting, I desperately needed to com up with a quick, Sweet & Simple card for my swap! We always have a swap theme and this month is flowers. I have many floral stamp sets, but when I'm in a pinch, I always turn to Stampin' Up!'s amazing designer series paper. I had just 10 sheets left of the Petal Garden 6" x 6" stack - PEREFECT! Trim it to 5" x 3 3/4", and then cut at 2", flip, and you've got a lovely bold pattern and accent piece. Add a ribbon and a cute punched sentiment and you're done! Once again, it doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful. Sweet & simple wins for me every time.
It feels good to use up paper, especially since the designer series paper stacks will be retiring this spring. I like to get the most out of my collection as I can, to make room for new colors and patterns! Speaking of which, now is the great time to stock up on the 2016-2018 In Colors before they retire, too. The ink pads and reinkers are always the first to go once the retirement list is out! I always buy the reinkers when I buy my ink pads. Protect your investment and be sure to stock up before the retirement list comes out.

Did you know that the dragon fruit, or Pitaya, is indigenous to the Americas? It's the fruit of a cactus and can range in color from red or yellow skinned with a white fleshy inside, or red throughout. It's tart, with crunchy the little black seeds that sort of remind me of a kiwi, but smaller. I've only had dragon fruit a few times, and was quite excited to see such an 'exotic' fruit included in the Tutti Frutti designer series paper. I'm glad they choose to use these cute little cross-sections, because the fruit itself is a bit scary for my crafting taste!
The Tutti Frutti designer series paper lends itself well to Sweet & Simple Cards, where the paper is the focal point. In this case, just a small banner with a simple 'hello' is really all you need to send a note to brighten someone's day!
Speaking of making someone's day, look at this happy mail I got yesterday from my mentor, Ronda Wade. I've been a part of Ronda's Creating Success Training Program for 3 years, and her teaching, advice, and support have been an invaluable part of my success at Stampin' Up!
These little magnets are so cute! I immediately put them on my craft board as a daily reminder that it's not just about paper and ink, it's about Stampin' Up!'s Statement of the Heart: "To love what we do and share what we love, as we help others enjoy creativity and worthwhile accomplishments ... in this we make a difference."

With a son in his early 20s and a sister who's homeschooling her two young children, I often find myself saying, "I know it's tough right now, but you've got this!". At various times, and and so many different levels, it's good to know they've got someone who believes in them and loves them unconditionally. I may not know what they're going thru, and I don't even pretend to understand, but they know I've got their back no matter what.
The same is true for my Stamping Bee team. I am their biggest cheerleader. A year ago, I had one Bee who was trying to build a business, and the rest were 'happy shopper' hobbyists. Don't get me wrong; I love all of them equally because we have a bond that stronger than business. I've strived to build an honest and truthful relationship with all of them. Whether or not they choose do make a business is up to them, not to me. And now, because I value relationships, I'm happy to say that I now have several Bees who are holding their own classes and blossoming into their own as demonstrators. I'm just so proud of them, and tell them often, "You're awesome! You've got this!" And you know what? They do!
