One of my favorite events during the month is to celebrate the success of my Stamping Bee team. Every month, I have a team challenge and for those who achieve their goal, we have a get together to celebrate. I always have a special theme to make it a little more festive. This month, we celebrated five ladies who achieved their December goals with a Champagne Celebration.
And because we're Stamping Bees, no get together would be complete without a little stamping! This month, we made love notes with the Narrow Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes. I wanted to showcase the Sure do Love You and Lots of Lavender Stamp Sets, along with the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. Aren't they adorable? And they came together so quickly, too.
The Narrow Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes are perfect for Valentine's cards for classrooms or teachers, or little love notes to tuck inside a lunch box or bouquet of flowers. You could even use them for gift card enclosures! They measure 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" and come 20 to a packet for only $8. I don't know about you, but I've already bought several packs to make more of these cute little notes.
Today's tutorial is going to be a bit different. I'll going to give you the directions to build the first few layers, but then you can design them yourself. Have fun!
Base: Narrow Whisper White Note Card, 4 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Layer 1: Subtract in either 1/8" or 1/4" increments. If you want a narrow boarder, use 1/8"; a wider boarder uses 1/4".
OR...don't use any paper to build a layer and use some of our larger background stamps, like I did. I used the Burlap Background Stamp for the card on the left and the Marbled Background Stamp for the card on the right.

Every 2nd Sunday of the month, my Stamping Bee team meets to have dinner and do some stamping. Last Sunday, was no exception. Well, with the exception that we met at the Carolina Brewery to celebrate the holidays, our friendship, and our love of crafting and stamping. While not everyone could join us, we had a fabulous time together.
When people ask me where I came up with the name "Stamping Bee", they often wonder if it's because I'm "busy as a bee" with all my stamping events. Actually, while that's not a bad guess, I took the word 'bee' from the 18th & 19th century idea of a social quilting bee cooperative. A place for women-and men - to gather to socialize and share their stories and the lives while expressing their creativity. It's a place we come to lay down our burdens, unwind, uplift, support, and perhaps most importantly, to take an hour or two out of our busy lives for ourselves. No matter how we're feeling when we arrive, we leave feeling joyous and renewed.
It is such a pleasure to have these strong, capable, and amazing women on my team. I am encouraged by their stories and their lives, and I hold each and every one in my heart. It is for this reason, I celebrate them and all of their accomplishments monthly at our team meetings and our monthly achievers celebrations. I really can't wait to see what this coming year holds in store for all of us!
Dinner, by the way was awesome. We were taken care of by two amazing young women, who didn't mind that I needed an extra table or two for all of my crafting stuff. And who accommodated my husband arriving quite late after working all day. One of the girls was so grateful when I handed her a stack of thank you cards we'd all brought and signed. I think she's coming to a class soon, and bringing her mother!
We ate and laughed our way through fantastic night. And no Stamping Bee event would be complete without a little stamping, right? As we waited for our appetizers to come, we all made cute wine tags using the Half Full stamp set and Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. I think you could have a few of these on hand for any last minute holiday gifts.
We ended the evening with a card swap. We each made 10 cards to swap and share with each other. I think they turned out great! I just love seeing all the different ideas everyone comes up with, don't you?

Christmas is fast approaching; you can feel it in the air! This weekend, it was full on holiday festivities, with a day of holiday baking with the children next door. I've never seen so many sprinkles on cookies before! But oh, such a great time!
Friday night, in front of the Hallmark Channel, I made 10 swaps for Sunday's Stamping Bee Christmas party. I couldn't decide which Christmas Around the World paper to use - cookies, nutcrackers, or global Christmas objects. So, I used all three! The team swap was so much fun; I can't wait to show you all the swaps I received from my team mates. Each and every one of them were made with the Christmas spirit and truly work works to be proud of.

I wanted to share with you two of the swaps from this month's Stamping Bee Team Meeting. I think that the swaps are the highlight of the meeting. It's like a grown-up version of show and tell. You can just feel the excitement, and sometimes the nerves as we wonder, "Is mine good enough? Will they like it?" The worry is for naught; everyone ooohhs and ahhhhhs over the cards, and receives each one in the spirit that it is given. "I made this for you. It's a piece of me, freely shared and given to you."
As we gathered for our Sunday team meal, and then shared the autumn and harvest cards we had made for each other, I was reminded yet again of the importance of friendship and community. For that is what we are....a community of crafters and stampers who gather together to share love, joy, kindness, patience, goodness. These simple tokens of the Fruits of the Spirit that live within each one of us, born out in paper and ink, with the simple message carried within each of them - "I loved you enough to share this with you. "
Remember to register for the Snowflake Sentiments Christmas Card Club. Registration is due October 15th. Class is October 28th @ 10 am or 2pm. Email me today to register!
