Never...let me repeat...NEVER, EVER, EVER emboss with the ceiling fan and air conditioning on! Or else, you'll end up with something that just makes you want to cry. Let me illustrate.
After spending several hours working with the Christmas Quilt Bundle(available September 1)last night, I decided to get fancy and hand piece a card in some rich, royal colors. Actually, they're theStampin' Up!'s Brights Collection of Real Red, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive. First, I cut the quilt outline out of the Basic Black. Then, cut the star and "quilted" the Real Red star and used a separate die to cut all the pieces out. Then, I cut all the pieces out of a Rich Razzleberry star. Then, each of those little pieces has to be glued down separately into the quilt outline. I added a Black Rhinestone (also available September 1).
I loved it! I thought it was beautiful. I thought...hmmmm...it needs something else. Something simple, something elegant...I know, I'll heat emboss the word "peace" in gold. Simple, elegant, sophisticated. I stamp my sentiment in Versamark, find my gold embossing powder, and just as I go to sprinkle it on...you guessed it, the a/c came on and blew embossing powder everywhere. Are you with me? Do you feel my pain? Ruined. The card I'd worked so hard on was ruined!
I went ahead and embossed it so I could share with you my very valuable embossing tip. Don't be like me. Suffer through the stillness and the heat for just a few minutes if you're going to heat emboss in the summer time. You'll thank me for it later.
