Better make that Letters from the home office! This week, I opened a rather unsuspecting package from the Stampin' Up! home office in Salt Lake City. It was a large padded envelope, and as I was opening it, I wondered what could be in it. It didn't feel very full, and I tried like crazy to think what could be shipped in it. I reached in and...
UGH! What was that? It certainly isn't anything we sell. And then...I started
LAUGHING OUT LOUD
It was the bear hat Scott Nielsen, CFO of Stampin' Up, wore in the video where the announced what the 2018 Incentive Trip was going to be. I met Scott in Richmond last April, when he joined us for an impromptu team meeting after OnStage. When he learned I was trying to earn my very first incentive trip, he promised I could wear his hat on the ship. We laughed because at that time I was just over a third of the way there. We knew there was a long road of hard work ahead.
Fast forward 5 months, and a week after I'd earned the Alaska incentive trip, I got a personal call from Scott, congratulating me on earning Alaska. We chatted a few minutes and he told me he had the hat sitting aside for me. Next thing I know, along with a handwritten, handmade card, my bear arrived.
I'm pretty impressed, to tell you the truth. To be recognized by a company you feel passionately about is terrific. But the personal touch and being recognized not just by Stampin' Up!, but by the CFO, well, that means more that that Alaska trip. Don't get me wrong! I'm still going to Alaska. And Scott, be ready. There will be pictures of you and I with the hat!
Hmmm...I wonder what will happen when I earn the 2019 trip to the Greek Isles??? Stay tuned!
And we have a winner....
Congratulations to Nola Morrison. Nola left a comment about what she was creating last week.
"Not necessarily creating, but I'm gathering with hundreds of United Methodist Women and that always brings me peace. Our organization focuses on helping women, children, and youth. Those marginalized or on the fringe, both in this country and in foreign countries."
Nola, I'll get these two Merry Patterns reindeer cards out to you right away.
Who will be this week's winner? Leave me a comment on the blog or on Facebook about the strangest thing you've ever received in the mail and I'll send you TWO SURPRISE handmade cards from me.
Just 2 seats remain for the Snowflake Sentiments Christmas Card Club. Registration is due October 15th. Class is October 28th @ 10 am or 2pm. Email me today to register!
