The studio is quiet today.
The guests have all gone.
The curtains are pulled and the shades are drawn.
There are stamps that need cleaned
And dies to sort out.
The floor needs vacuumed
And tables put away.
I'm ready for my friends to come back and play.
This weekend, there was a whirlwind of activity in my studio. Saturday, I spent the day prepping for my Sweet & Simple Card Class and my Stamping Bee Team Meeting, which run back to back on Sunday evening. Then, I got a call that my son was coming home for the night! What joy! He knew I had events planned on Sunday afternoon, so he spent the afternoon at my parents' house, helping my father get his Roku set up. Then, came back and popped into the studio to visit with everyone before going back up the mountain. Of course, I couldn't send him home empty-handed. He and his roommate will eat well for a day or two, with a pan of homemade enchiladas and a chocolate cake that I made Saturday night.
My two events went so well! My Sweet and Simple Class had 10 people this month. Five ladies had never been to a class before, and four were brand new stampers! We made cards from the Cake Soiree Suite. Everyone got to use the Big Shot, and enjoyed coloring with the Blends alcohol markers.
My team meeting starts at 5, so at 4:30, two of my Stamping Bees cleaned and reset the studio while I chatted with the Lad for a few minutes before he left. I like to cook for my Bees, but after last night, they may request a replacement chef. I made a low-carb, pasta-less lasagne that I'd made before, but it didn't set up. We had to eat it out of bowls, like soup. It did taste good, though! Everyone brings something to share, so we had chicken salad and croissants, a lovely green salad, some pretty purple grapes, a couple bottles of very nice red wine, and some Valentine's candy. It's good to share a meal together and catch up with everyone before our meeting.
We had some recognitions to do this month. One of my Bees promoted to Bronze Elite - yay! And another became qualified. They both received a special free stamp set from me. Next, we had the top three in sales for the month of January. All three of them will receive a free class-to-go by mail. Then, we got serious and did some stamping! We made three cards and a lovely little 2" box that can be filled with tiny treats or gifts to share.
By 8 pm, the house was quiet. I know I should have gone back upstairs to clean, but I'd been standing for two days straight. I prepped close to 100 cards on Saturday, plus designed a 6-card class for my Stamping at the Beach retreat in March. All I wanted to do was sit in my comfy arm chair and watch the Olympics for a few hours. Cleaning will just have to wait until tonight!
Won't you join us? The Sweet & Simple Card Class runs every 2nd Sunday of the month, from 2-4 pm. There's paper crafting, refreshments, and even more important, friendship and fellowship. Hope to see you March 11th! (And the class is always available, "to go" if you can't make it in person!)
