What better sentiment on Christmas Day? Do you know the legend of the Poinsettia?
There was once a poor Mexican girl called Pepita who had no present to give the baby Jesus at the Christmas Eve Services. As Pepita walked to the chapel, sadly, her cousin Pedro tried to cheer her up.'Pepita', he said "I'm sure that even the smallest gift, given by someone who loves him will make Jesus Happy."
Pepita didn't know what she could give, so she picked a small handful of weeds from the roadside and made them into a small bouquet. She felt embarrassed because she could only give this small present to Jesus. As she walked through the chapel to the altar, she remembered what Pedro had said. She began to feel better, knelt down and put the bouquet at the bottom of the nativity scene. Suddenly, the bouquet of weeds burst into bright red flowers, and everyone who saw them were sure they had seen a miracle. From that day on, the bright red flowers were known as the 'Flores de Noche Buena', or 'Flowers of the Holy Night'.
The shape of the poinsettia flower and leaves are sometimes thought as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem which led the Wise Men to Jesus. The red colored leaves symbolize the blood of Christ. The white leaves represent his purity. (http://www.whychristmas.com/customs/poinsettia.shtml)
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight--
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
When I first saw the Flurry of Wishes at the Stampin’ Up! convention in July, I knew it would be my first holiday purchase. I’ve truly loved everything I made from it. Anytime there is a stamp set with a coordinating punch, you know it’s going to be great. Being able to punch out the small snowflakes, instead of hand ‘fussy’ cutting them is a real timesaver. I also used the punch separately, to punch out snowflake shapes in silver and dazzling diamonds glimmer paper to really make my projects shine.
And since snowflakes can be used well into the winter season, I don't plan on putting this beautiful bundle away anytime soon.
_The Flurry of Wishes bundle is available here. Please use code DMFRMGBR by December 30th and receive a $5 rebate from me!
I have a confession. I didn’t buy the Hello December Project Life kit and I really wish I had. The colors alone melted my heart, and the warm, cozy designs made my heart happy. I know, next year, to put the daily December kit on the top of my list!
The Whether you’re looking for faster, easier alternatives to traditional scrapbooking, a better way of displaying your family photos (than on your phone), keeping a daily journal, or making a daily devotional, or making greeting cards with preprinted images, Stampin’ Up’s! Project Life kits are a real time saver.
The Hello December Accessory pack is what I used for creating my Advent Calendar, too!
Today was the Hubs' birthday. We went and walked around the old Moravian town of Old Winston-Salem and had lunch at the Fullsteam Brewery downtown. It was a good day, even if we did get to the old town before it opened!
I made the card last night, as he and the dogs were sleeping in my crafting studio while we were all watching TV. He is always telling me, "Less is more", so I made him a very simple, fun card...on the outside!
The inside, however was a completely different story! Here, I used my new Party Pop-Up Thinlet Die from the 2016 Occasions Catalog. This is so much fun! He was really suprised when he opened it up. He passed it around for everyone to see and my dad really had fun opening and closing it multiple times to see if it would still work. I also used my Sweet Stack Stamp Set and Cherry on Top Washi tape to add interest and color.
The Party Pop-Up Thinlet Die and the Occasions catalog become available on January 5, 2016! If you are a current customer, you should be receiving a catalog in the mail shortly. If you would like a catalog and have a different demonstrator, please contact them for your copy. If you don't have a demonstrator, I'd be happy to be yours!
