One thing I like about participating in swaps, is seeing how others interpret designs and colors. The two card I'm featuring today use colors that I don't even have in my studio simply because they are not 'me'. It's very hard for me to create when the colors don't appeal to me, and yet, I received to lovely harvest cards featuring the Basket of Wishes Stamp Set that are absolutely lovely.
Barbi used Elegant Eggplant as the focal point and it really makes the image stand out. I love the use of the Copper Foil Sheets to make a 'brad' , anchoring that sentiment flag.
Cajun Craze is another color that you won't find in my studio, but it's perfect here, reminding me of those last warm days of fall when the trees turn such lovely shades of red, orange, and yellow. Isn't your eye drawn right to those pretty sunflowers?
Such a lovely job. I'm certainly inspired to try some new colors!
I'm have the happy fortune of being part of a Creating Success training group. This group of ladies (and men!) gets together and swaps cards three times per year - or every time Stampin' Up! releases a new catalog. I'm always so excited to get my swaps back because every single card is artisan quality.
This week, I'm going to share some of those swapped cards with you, starting with one of my favorite sets, Cookie Cutter Halloween.
I've used this set several times in the last few weeks and when I saw this card, I though , "Wow! I would never have thought to make Old Olive the predominant color!" I just love it. The green is just awesome. and I love the little rhinestone in her bow, too. Very girly!
Tamara used some nice subtle shading on her scarecrow. The torn Petals and Paisleys designer series paper adds to that rustic feel, as does the little linen thread around his neck. I see that he's no better at keeping the crows away than our scarecrow ever did!
I can hardly wait to show you what cards I've chosen for tomorrow!
I'm so excited! The Hubs and I are going to visit the Lad tomorrow! Last year, he came home about every other weekend. I spent a lot of time driving the 2.5 hours back and forth to Charlotte. This year, he has an internship and works on campus, so he isn't coming as often. So, we'll go make a day out of it. If the weather's good (as in, not too hot or humid) we'll walk around the Botanical Garden on campus. Of course, there will be lunch/dinner out and a trip to the grocery store fill up his fridge and pantry. And, if I'm very good, the Hubs has promised we can go to IKEA, too!
We never visit empty handed. He has 3 roommates this year. I made these cute miniature coffee cups using the Halloween Night Designer Series Paper and my favorite vampire from the Cookie Cutter Halloween Stamp Set. I'm going to fill them up with candy corn to share with the guys. Shhhh...it's a surprise! I'd put chocolates, but since it's still 90F, I don't want them to melt in the car!
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
