I went for a walk today with my dogs and was inspired by the promise of spring. There are sprigs of green popping up where I know my daffodils have slept through the cold, yet short, North Carolina winter.
As soon as I saw the You're Inspiring stamp set in the Occasions Catalog, I knew I had to have it. Daffodils are some of my favorite spring flowers. They always seem so cheery. Traditionally, daffodils are the harbingers of spring, symbolizing rebirth and new beginnings. Short-lived, they are a delicate reminder to enjoy the simple and lovely pleasures in life, however long or short they may last.
And that is why I chose this card sketch to CASE from the Occasions Catalog this week. I didn't change it much, just added a jaunty angle and some background dots, that remind me of spring time rain, of promises of new beginnings, and a reminder of hope and love.
Now, it's your turn. Create a card based on the above pattern and then post it on the Case-ing Tuesday Facebook post. Or, if you post it elsewhere, please use the hashtag #CASEingTuesday133. I can't wait to see what you create!
One of my favorite events during the month is to celebrate the success of my Stamping Bee team. Every month, I have a team challenge and for those who achieve their goal, we have a get together to celebrate. I always have a special theme to make it a little more festive. This month, we celebrated five ladies who achieved their December goals with a Champagne Celebration.
And because we're Stamping Bees, no get together would be complete without a little stamping! This month, we made love notes with the Narrow Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes. I wanted to showcase the Sure do Love You and Lots of Lavender Stamp Sets, along with the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. Aren't they adorable? And they came together so quickly, too.
The Narrow Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes are perfect for Valentine's cards for classrooms or teachers, or little love notes to tuck inside a lunch box or bouquet of flowers. You could even use them for gift card enclosures! They measure 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" and come 20 to a packet for only $8. I don't know about you, but I've already bought several packs to make more of these cute little notes.
Today's tutorial is going to be a bit different. I'll going to give you the directions to build the first few layers, but then you can design them yourself. Have fun!
Base: Narrow Whisper White Note Card, 4 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Layer 1: Subtract in either 1/8" or 1/4" increments. If you want a narrow boarder, use 1/8"; a wider boarder uses 1/4".
OR...don't use any paper to build a layer and use some of our larger background stamps, like I did. I used the Burlap Background Stamp for the card on the left and the Marbled Background Stamp for the card on the right.
Today is the last day to register for the January 27th Seasonal Sampler Class. You can choose to make the sampler, or 10 cards using the designs from the sampler. To register, please email me. (This is also available as a Class To Go. Email me for more information.
Just TWO spots remain for theMarch 16-18th Stampin' @ the Beach weekend retreat. Email me to register by January 31.
Don't you hate it when, you're stamping and everything is going great and then, "oops" there's a smudge of ink right across your project. That's what happened to me when I was making this cute Party Panda card for my New Year's Bingo party. I guess I inked the stamp too much, and in the recessed area of the balloon, once on paper there was a big black smudge. Rather than start over - because I was in a hurry - I decided to see what I could to do save it.
I grabbed my Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Marker and colored the inside of the balloon. That smudge was still noticeable. In the Bingo Goodie bags, everyone was getting whole pack of the Wooden Hearts & Stars embellishments. I took one of the small hearts, and smooshed it gently into in my Calypso Coral Ink Pad to dye it. Once it was dry, I used a glue dot to cover up my smudge. Add an "Love you" sentiment to tie it altogether, and voila, a happy little accident was born. I guess Bob Ross really did know what he was talking about.
What kind of happy accidents have you experience lately?
